Colour Palettes
2025 is bringing with it a variety of fresh ideas and inspiration. We asked some industry experts for their insights on the latest trending designs. In part two, we ask...
Which colours do you see being particularly popular or influential in 2025?
“Warm, earthy hues will take centre stage in 2025, with rich burgundy tones and a palette of warm browns. Pops of muted greens and blues will still be popular, again, reminding home owners of nature surrounding them. While a nod to the authenticity of architectural styles and metal finishes is strong, clients are becoming more adventurous with their selections, and seeking living and warm brushed finishes. These colours bring depth, comfort, and a sense of timeless elegance, moving beyond trends to create spaces that feel both inviting and refined." Tamiko Gleeson |

“In 2025, colour continues to trend toward depth and warmth. Expect to see a resurgence of rich, earthy hues - warm taupes, muted terracottas, and deep olive greens. These shades provide a sense of grounding and connection to nature, making them perfect for creating inviting and restorative spaces. Pantone’s Colour of the Year always sets the tone for upcoming trends, and 2025 is no exception. The return of browns may be a surprise (especially for those of us who remember mission brown!), but the right tones—think rich mocha, warm caramel, and muted walnut, will create luxurious, cocooning homes. Colour drenching - where a single hue or variations of the same tone are used across walls, ceilings, and trim will only gain momentum. Alongside nature inspired tones, we’ll also see moody blues and desaturated purples adding depth and sophistication. Instead of stark, high contrast colour schemes, 2025 will embrace a more layered, tonal palette that creates a seamless, cohesive flow throughout the home.” Annie Brereton |

“Earthy hues continue to reign supreme, with terracotta and clay pinks still super popular for their cosy warmth and wonderful compatibility with our sunny climate. The rich burgundies of the last few years are growing into spicier paprika reds which fit beautifully with this particular palette. My tween daughter has in fact just had an entire bedding refresh in dusty pinks at her own request… I’m sure Barbie and “Wicked’s” Glinda have in no small part helped to keep pink alive for everyone! We are diving deeper into these earthy hues with rich walnut tones appearing more often in kitchens and custom joinery, and 2025’s Pantone Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse, is the perfect deep yet versatile complement to a warm, grounded palette. Its rich, chocolatey undertones bring depth and sophistication, making it an ideal choice for pairing with natural textures like linen, timber, and stone. I’m delighted to say greens are also here to stay! I’m a huge fan of olive and forest greens, sage and eucalyptus, and have noticed mint green is making a show of itself on the runways. Fashion and interiors often walk hand in hand when it comes to colour trends and this year is no different. But let’s not forget about the blues! A staple colour in Sydney’s Northern Beaches that will forever remain a resident thanks to its evocative sense of the ocean and sky, however I’m seeing more striking cobalt blues appearing in the broader market which is invigorating. Last year I completed designs for a deep blue kitchen in a local knock down rebuild which will sit alongside some very fun red, coral and terracotta accents in the artwork and styling. It’s a real show stopper - watch this space!” |
